Prevent ageing with these everyday items

Wrinkles, spots, crows-feet, fine lines and unwanted pigmentation comes with getting older. And it’s the biggest nightmare for women around the world.

Today, many women above the age of thirty spend thousands on clinical procedures or clinically proven topical skincare creams and formulations tailored to filling and blurring away unsightly signs of ageing. The question remains: do these synthetic substances work in the long run?

If you're sceptical about putting these costly creams and toners on your face, we have some good news for you.

There are plenty of natural ingredients and inexpensive home-made remedies today, proven to leave the skin feeling softer, and wrinkle-free. And they're probably lining the shelves of your pantry right now!

Organic Honey

Honey is the world's natural moisturiser and it’s used in many skincare formulas. This natural ingredient is packed with antioxidants that repair damage on the skin caused by free radicals while rejuvenating dry skin.

What to do:

Apply two tablespoons of honey to the face and neck and massage into the skin in gentle circular motions for two minutes. Leave on for fifteen minutes and then rinse thoroughly with warm water.

We highly suggest you tie up your hair for this. You don't want to leave a sweet, sticky mess behind!

Olive Oil

A few drops of olive oil can work wonders on treating ageing skin. This natural ingredient is rich in Vitamins A and E to hydrate the skin, polyphenols to slow down rapidly ageing cells, along with monsurated fats to promote skin elasticity, wellness and suppleness.

What to do:

Olive oil is a great under-eye treatment. Before bed, massage a few drops of olive oil onto the under-eye area for a few minutes. Wash off with cold water and apply a toner and moisturiser to your skin as per usual.

Rose Water/Rosehip

Rosewater and organic rosehip oil are readily available. This ingredient has cell regeneration properties and acts as an anti-inflammatory for damaged, dry skin. It also increases blood circulation into the capillaries and reduces the appearance of thread veins, puffiness and pigmentation.

What to do:

Reduce fine lines and wrinkles by making your own Rosewater toner.

Mix 2 teaspoons of rose water, 1/2 teaspoon of lemon juice and a few drops of natural glycerin together.

Dip a cotton ball or pad in the solution and apply generously over a clean face. Do this every night before bed.

Avocados enhance the skin's natural radiance and diminish the appearance of fine lines with its high concentration of Vitamin E and carotenoids, while its high Vitamin C levels accelerates the skin's natural production levels to keep it smooth and firm.

What to do:

Mash a fresh avocado into a bowl. Place the avocado onto a clean face and leave on for 12 minutes, taking care to avoid the eye area. Rinse off thoroughly.

Coconut Milk/Water

Another popular home remedy to prevent wrinkles is coconut milk or coconut water.

Found in skincare products worldwide, this tropical fruit fights all signs of ageing by locking moisture to the skin, leaving it feeling soft and smooth. It also has many antioxidants and anti-inflammatory properties to keep the fine lines and crows-feet at bay.

What to do:

Soak a cotton ball or pad in coconut milk or coconut water and apply liberally over a clean face. Leave on for twenty minutes and rinse off with cold water.
