The right way to remove falsies

Although fake eyelashes look absolutely beautiful once they’re on the eyes, those things are an absolute pain to get on and just as much of a pain to get off.
Just so we’re clear, if you are experiencing pain or discomfort when removing your false eyelashes, stop what you’re doing immediately!
We understand how tempting it is to want to rip your eyelashes off after a long day, but removing false lashes takes time and patience. Especially if you’re using a high-quality lash glue!
To remove your false eyelashes the right way, you will need any one of these three products:
Glue remover
Makeup remover
Baby oil
Glue remover and makeup remover are the best options for removing your false eyelashes if you plan to reuse them. If you don’t plan on using your false eyelashes again and want to condition your natural lashes while you’re at it, you may use baby oil.
Step one: Remove your makeup
Damp a cotton pad with makeup remover and gently remove your eye makeup before attempting to take off your false lashes. This will remove any build-up and start to dissolve any of the excess lash glue.
If you plan on reusing your false lashes, be sure to use an oil-free makeup remover so as to not ruin your lashes.
Step two: Dissolve the lash glue
Apply a small amount of glue remover or makeup remover to a cotton swab and apply it along the lash band to remove any excess glue.
Leave the remover on the lash band for 20-30 seconds to allow the product to settle in and dissolve.
Then, attempt to remove your lashes by peeling your lashes upwards and away from your natural lashes starting from the inner corner. If you plan on reusing your lashes, use tweezers rather than your fingers.
Be sure to hold onto your eyelid to stop it from stretching as this can cause premature wrinkles, sagging or damage to the skin and/or your natural lashes.
If at any stage you experience some discomfort and pain, apply more glue remover/makeup remover to loosen up any remaining lash adhesive. It can be a time-consuming process but it’s worth it for preserving your precious lashes!
Once your lashes are off, remove any residual glue and wash your face with soap and water to clear away any remaining product.
Step three: Cleaning your lashes (Optional)
If you want to use your fake lashes again, it is imperative that you clean them to keep them in-shape and bacteria-free.
Fill a small bowl or cup with oil-free liquid makeup remover and soak your fake lashes for 5-10 minutes.
Once you have finished soaking your lashes, remove them and rinse off any makeup and makeup remover under a slow stream of water.
Don’t put your lashes away wet as this can cause moulding. Instead, lay your lashes out to air dry for about 15-20 minutes before storing.
It’s best to keep the storage box that your lashes originally came in so that they can keep their shape, but if you have disposed of it for whatever reason, you can always use a clean, dry zip-lock bag.
