It was the 1930s. Disney’s Snow White came to the silver screen, the yellow brick road was laid in The Wizard of Oz, and swing dancing made all the legs in a 20 mile radius of every city fly about. It was quite the time to be alive. Revlon came to be in 1932 and it certainly hasn’t stopped to draw breathe.
Founded in the Great Depression by brother Charles Revson and brother Joseph, along with chemist friend Charles Lachman, Revlon produced just one product, a new type of nail enamel.
By the time the 1940s rolled around Revlon offered an entire manicure line, had added lipstick to the collection and now boasts hundreds of high quality products across mascaras, eyeshadows, lipsticks, nail polishes, hair treatments, fragrances and the illustrious list goes on.
Revlon has graced the visages of Cindy Crawford, Halle Berry, Emma Stone, Jessica Alba and Elle Macpherson, women with strong minds, acute tastes in fashion and sparkling careers, they wouldn’t let just any ol’ product go on their faces. We’ll be trusting Revlon for a while yet.
Importantly, in 1989 Revlon became one of the first cosmetic companies to axe animal testing from their production methods and replace it with alternative safety methods.
Revlon has been around for over 80 years, has been innovating for the entire time and has gifted us with stunning colours that make sizzling at that cocktail event possible. Much love to Revlon, muchos love.
