The Konjac Sponge A.K.A Your new skincare addiction

The Konjac Sponge A.K.A Your new skincare addiction

If you haven’t yet heard of this miracle sponge, be prepared to have your mind blown!

The konjac sponge took Japan by storm due to its fantastic skin correcting capabilities.

Although it creates a wonderfully rich lather when used with facial cleansers, some users have still had immense success just by using the sponge with water. Now that’s crazy!

Created by combining the dried, porous root vegetable (the konjac) with calcium hydroxide, this all-natural, non-toxic, 100% biodegradable sponge can smooth out dry skin, reduce acne, beat blackheads and clear clogged pores.

Its components contain vitamins A through to E, fatty acids and many highly beneficial minerals to re-balance oil production, encourage smoother skin and promote a luminous glow.

The sponge’s unique, gentle texture makes it an absolute pleasure to work with and completely safe to use as a daily exfoliater.

It also makes an excellent makeup remover, especially when paired with coconut oil to remove any stubborn residue without irritating the sensitive eye area.

How to properly use a konjac sponge

  1. The sponge will be quite solid when you first use it, so you’ll need to soak it in warm water for around fifteen minutes.

After the initial use, it should only take a couple of minutes for the sponge to expand.
  2. Squeeze out any excess water gently! It’s crucial that you don’t wring or tightly squeeze the sponge as you may damage the fibres.
  3. This sponge lathers like crazy, so be sure to only add a small amount of cleanser at this stage. Or as mentioned earlier, just use it on its own!
  4.  In upwards, circular motions, gently scrub your face. Pay extra attention to any drier spots or those areas that are known to clog up and brew blackheads.

Preserving your konjac sponge

Once you’ve finished using the sponge, make sure you hang it up away from direct light or humidity. If it’s easier, you can also keep the sponge in a sealed container in your refrigerator.

Disinfect your sponge with hot water every two or so weeks. Note: Hot water, not boiling water!

Unfortunately, all good things must come to an end and this konjac sponge does have a shelf life. Although there are steps you can take to increase the longevity of your sponge, it should be replaced once it stops expanding properly or begins falling apart.

The good news however, is that you can get your hands on our konjac sponges for as low as $5.95, so breaking the budget for a replacement won’t be necessary!
