Who suits orange lipstick?

Warm and olive undertones wear true orange most easily, and it looks especially striking on deeper skin tones. Cool undertones are not excluded — a coral or orange-red with some pink in it bridges the gap far better than a pure tangerine.

Coral, tangerine or burnt orange?

Coral is the softest and most wearable day-to-day, sitting close to a warm pink. Tangerine is the brightest and reads as a deliberate summer statement. Burnt orange and terracotta are muted and deeper, which makes them the most versatile across seasons and the easiest to wear at work.

How do I stop it looking harsh?

Orange is unforgiving of a hard edge, so blur rather than line sharply — apply with a fingertip and press outward. Keeping the rest of the face warm helps too: a peachy blush and bronzed skin sit with orange far better than a cool pink blush.

Does it stain?

Orange and red pigments do stain lips more than other shade families, particularly in matte and liquid formulas. That works in your favour for longevity but means removal takes an oil-based cleanser rather than a wipe. A balm applied first reduces staining if you would rather avoid it.
