Who is oil-free foundation for?
Anyone whose foundation breaks down through the day, particularly across the forehead, nose and chin. Oil-free formulas omit the emollient oils that can loosen makeup as natural sebum builds, so the finish holds longer on skin that produces oil. They also suit anyone who prefers a flatter, less dewy finish regardless of skin type.
Is oil-free the same as non-comedogenic?
No. Oil-free means the formula contains no added oils. Non-comedogenic means it has been formulated with the intention of not blocking pores — a product can be one without being the other. If congestion is your main concern, look for non-comedogenic specifically rather than assuming oil-free covers it.
Will it make my skin feel dry?
It can if your skin is already dry, since these formulas do not add emollience. The fix is in the step before: moisturise properly and let it absorb fully before applying. Oil-free foundation over well-hydrated skin looks very different from the same product over bare skin.
How do I apply it?
Use a damp sponge rather than a dry brush. Oil-free formulas tend to set quickly and grip where they land, so work in small sections and blend before moving on. Build in thin layers rather than applying heavily and trying to blend it out.
How do I keep it in place?
Set only where you need it — around the nose, centre of the forehead, under the eyes. Explore the full face makeup range for primers and powders, or compare with waterproof foundation if longevity is the priority.
