How do I choose a useful pack?

Look for variation in opacity rather than just colour. A pack with one clear gloss for layering, a couple of everyday tints and one pigmented shade gives more use than four similar pinks. Check whether the applicators are doe-foot or squeeze tubes, since that affects how precisely you can apply.

Do glosses expire?

Around twelve to eighteen months once opened. Replace if the texture separates or thickens, or the scent changes. Because doe-foot applicators return to the tube after touching the lips, glosses accumulate bacteria faster than bullet products and are worth replacing more regularly.

Can I layer them?

That is the main advantage of a pack. Clear gloss over a matte lipstick softens it to a satin. A tinted gloss over a nude shifts the colour entirely. Applying gloss only to the centre of the lower lip creates the appearance of more fullness.
