How to sharpen NYX lip liners
Pencil liners like NYX Suede Matte Lip Liner and NYX Line Loud Lip Pencil can be sharpened with a makeup sharpener. It is best practice to disinfect the sharpener before sharpening. Simply place your lip liner inside the sharpener without forcing it and rotate to sharpen. The more you sharpen the pencil, the thinner and more precise your application will be.
Twist up pencils like the NYX Retractable Lip Liner cannot be sharpened. Instead, you would use the twisting mechanism at the bottom of the pencil to release more product.
What is the purpose of lip liners?
Lip liners have several uses. Lining your lips with lip liner will prevent your lipsticks from feathering and bleeding and will create a more precise look. You can also line your lips in a way that makes them appear fuller with a technique known as overlining or overdrawing.
Applying lip liner to the entire lip will result in longer lasting wear of any lipsticks you choose to layer on top. You can also wear lip liner by itself and top it off with a clear gloss for a natural look.
How to apply lip liners
Sharpen or twist up your lip liner before applying it on the lips. Part your lips slightly and trace your natural lip line with short, delicate strokes starting from your cupid’s bow and moving outwards.
After lining your lips, an optional second step is to fill them in. Doing so will help any lip colours or lipsticks you choose to apply on top last longer.
