How to lift your lash game

Eyelash extensions may be beautiful but they sure are expensive.

If you’re disappointed with your lash length or feel as though no mascara can give you the volume you desire, there are a few ways you can improve your lash game and make the most of what you’ve got.

Curl your lashes

If you’re not curling your lashes, there lies half of your problem!

A lash curler is a super simple-to-use tool that lifts your lashes from the root and gives them a lovely curl.

Manoeuvre the handles to create an opening for your upper lashes. Rest them between the slot and clamp them gently to lift your lashes at the root. Pump your eyelash curler at different sections of your lashes to create a cohesive curl.

Prime your lashes

Just like a face, eye or lip primer, a lash primer optimises makeup application.

Using a lash primer before mascara will enhance your lashes and make them appear thicker and longer when mascara is applied on top.

Revisit your mascara technique

Changing up your mascara technique will improve your lash game in leaps and bounds.

Refrain from combing mascara straight through or applying mascara in a zig-zag motion. This will make your lashes appear uneven and will increase your likelihood of creating clumps.

Instead, wiggle your mascara wand at the roots of your lashes to ensure that each lash is separated and hugged by wand, then comb through to apply product from root to tip in an even fashion.

De-clumpify your mascara

If clumps stop you from layering your mascara, there is a great way to remove them once they’ve occurred that doesn’t involve taking all your makeup off and cancelling your plans (been there, done that!).

Allow your mascara to dry and then comb your lashes with an eyelash comb.

Lash growth serum

If the length of your lashes has really got you down, thankfully we live in the age of lash growth serums. Bless!

Not only do these serums accelerate growth, but they’re also extremely conditioning and are a great way to show your lashes some TLC after extensive curling or regular use of mascara or false eyelashes.

False eyelashes

If the previous methods still aren’t cutting it, there’s always false eyelashes. They come in a range of styles and lengths to suit your look or vibe.

We know fake lashes can be tedious and messy, but just as every makeup product is constantly being innovated, so too are falsies. If you’ve always struggled with lash glue, perhaps give magnetic lashes a try? They’re reusable, quick to apply and easily removed.

May your lash game be always on point from here on out!
